3D Modeling Assignments
Assignments:
1) Landscape Terragen -> Blender -> Sculptris. Detail out the environment based on concept art from some of the industry concept artists or photographs. Get concept artist websites from http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/store/category/44/Environment-Design such as Feng Zhu http://www.artbyfeng.com/ Use the model that we created from Terragen as your starting model in sculptris. Try to match as closely to the concept art or the photograph with your sculpting. Digitally sculpt up the environment with the tools provided in sculptris. Use the texture images as brushes where you see fit. We will export this model later as an Obj to take into your choice of 3D Studio Max, Maya, or Blender.
2) Environment Room in your choice of 3D Studio Max, Maya, or Blender. Pick a concept art piece or a photograph of a room. You will be making different parts of the scene in 3D as each project. Use sculptris to sculpt your models as you see fit to get as close to photo realistic with your models. A model is due every week. This is building to one over all final project.
3) Texture paint all of your models to make them photo realistic. Your choice of software Photoshop, Maya, Blender, or Gimp. 3D Studio Max can not texture paint. Each texture model counts for a grade.
4) Shade with materials the models in your target package of choice 3D Studio Max, Maya, or Blender. 1 overall grade.
5) Then Light your scene in your target package of your choice 3D Studio Max, Maya, or Blender. 1 overall grade for lighting.
6) Final Render and Photoshop Touch up for final project.
Your grades on each part will be based on accuracy of the model, topology, cleanness and solid construction etc to your reference picture whether it is a photograph or a concept art piece. The photograph or concept art has to be approved by your instructor.
